The Tomato (Beefsteak) Mortgage Lifter Heirloom variety was named by a 1930's farmer whose bumper crop of this variety enabled him to save his farm from repossession. Who would have thought tomato seeds or any vegetable seeds could bring about such a great outcome. Fabulous all-round tomato, developed from Italian, German and English 'beefsteak' varieties.
